Rastislav Geschwandtner

A professional freelance English/Slovak and Czech to English interpreter and translator since 1995. He is a:

• Native Slovak,
• Graduate of Slovak Technical University, Faculty of mechanical Engineering,
• Member of Slovak Association of Translator and Interpreters,
• Holder of a security clearance certificate issued by Slovak National Security Authority – the level Secret.
• Reliable, quality-oriented professional focused on expertise and precision of translation.

Jana Geschwandtnerova

She is in charge of the company administration, language and style revisions, customer service and billing. She is a native Slovak, graduate of Slovak Technical University - Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology and has 25 years of experience in international trade working for a number of international companies. She is doing the language and style revisions of our Slovak translations ever since the company was established. Thanks to her expert knowledge of codified Slovak she immensely contributes to the quality of our Slovak translation. Customers have found her to be positive and helpful during their interactions and value her efficiency.

1. Interesting people - When interpreting I have an honour to meet many outstanding people – experts in many areas of life, lecturers, trainers, managers, politicians, statesmen, but also ordinary employees or citizens. Sometimes I'm „only“ interpreting their communication with others, but often I have an opportunity to talk to them as well. I’m grateful for all these interactions and conversations. They are very enriching and inspiring.

2. Variety of environments and topics - One day it’s about compressor station automation, then another day about monument care, then a NATO summit, followed by a conference on gender equality, aircraft engine development and yet another day it’s an audit in a nuclear power plant. Every topic brings a new challenge and it broadens my horizons.

3. Growth and development - Such wide variety of themes requires constant preparation and studying, because the quality of interpreting or translation is directly proportional to the quality of preparation and the level of understanding the subject. Constant studying sharpens your mind and enriches your spirit.

4. Choices - Being my own boss and having complete control over my own destiny is something I value beyond measure. It gives me freedom and unlimited choices. But with choices come responsibility. Having all that freedom and nobody telling me what to do requires me to be much more disciplined. To achieve my goals, provide excellent service to my customers and have a well-balanced life, I have to make sure that the choices I make serve me well.

5. Constant change - Interpreter’s job requires concentration, focus and ability to quickly respond to changes. Every interpreting assignment is different and unique and as such requiring a special approach. Thanks to that I have learned to perceive change as a welcome part of life and gained flexibility in reacting to ever changing conditions.

6. Corruption-free environment - In my business I don’t feel any corruption pressures at all. All that I had ever needed to get a job was my good reputation with my customers and partners.

7. No receivables - During the past 29 ryears of practice as a freelance interpreter and translator, all of my issued invoices have been paid!  :-)
